Hi my friend, my name is Maynas Eric Chua, the Founder of The100Monkeys.com and I am an Agent of Change / Connector. I use Modern Technology & Life shortcuts to make Businesses and Lifestyle run smoother, smarter, faster and better. What I do is to research with people upon various topics of interest in Projects and unleash them into our Blogs, Forums and Products to spread the ideas.

The100Monkeys Story

The hundredth-monkey effect is a supposed phenomenon in which a learned behaviour spreads instantaneously from one group of monkeys to all related monkeys once a critical number is reached. By generalization it means the instantaneous, paranormal spreading of an idea or ability to the remainder of a population once a certain portion of that population has heard of the new idea or learned the new ability. Recognition is what most people are NOT able to get in their usual workplace. When was the last time you were recognized for doing something great? Were you the only one who knew it or were only a few people aware of it and these people do not really care what you have done, worse still, are jealous of your achievements because everyone is vying for the very same next promotion. Is the only person who can do anything about promoting you because you have done a great job, your immediate supervisor? If he or she is willing to support you to rise up the ladder, you are lucky. What if he or she does not really want to help you rise in rank?

This is perhaps one of the reasons why a considerable portion of people no longer find their work interesting or satisfying, they know they are stuck and no longer produce groundbreaking efforts, just barely enough. Here, you are able to get recognized, in public via Twitter, Facebook and our groups of people who are connected. I would think that to be successful, we are judged not only based upon our efforts and results produced but also on how recognized we are for them.

The Long Letter : Why Make This Your Homepage

My personal reason for starting The100Monkeys.com is simple, to do almost everything online because I like the fast paced environment. Things can get done very fast between groups of great people all over the world online and I can be anywhere minding my business as long as I have internet access, when without, I write them down on my trusty pencil and paper.

This is coming from a guy who dreaded the 2 to 3 hours wasted everyday preparing to go out, felt that traveling from one place to another was a waste of time, and the time it is needed to recover after returning home, tired from the traveling, could be reduced. If you felt something similar sometimes, welcome to The100Monkeys.com because you are likely to love the constant “Live” action here! *Smiles* There are five main things we can do here.

I have also designed this website in a way that suits our members and my daily activities. On the homepage, we have the essential Google Search, quick links to our heavy usage of Twitter, Facebook and Delicious, easy reference to new activities on our blog.

(2) TWITTER CHANNELS

Ever wanted to follow what the great minds all over the World are Tweeting about? I have tried grouping people up on Twitter applications but it’s not really efficient enough. I have over 20k people I follow and who follow me on Twitter and it is impossible to keep track of everyone’s activities, even those Tweets you care about because there are just to many clicks and names to remember.

Solution: Embedded Twitter Channels with 10 of the best in each group. This is where I camp a few Tabs of my Twitter Groups to instantly keep up with what my favorite people are tweeting and sharing about. New channels will be added as we find more great people everyday! Are you one of them? Are you one of us?

(3) BLOG ABOUT SUCCESS

If you are like me, you would have visited some blogs, stayed there for a few days or weeks, and then never go back there again for a few months or years because it starts to get boring. There are only very few blogs in the world that are really worth visiting on a constant basis or having on RSS. I have a couple of websites and blogs for many years now but I have never planned to keep them updated on a constant basis, only when there’s something to announce.

The blog of The100Monkeys.com will be different. This will be the first large scale blog that I have planned to be updated on a daily basis, it will not be easy and I hope to enlist the help of talented people to contribute to this blog as well. Why are newspapers and magazines so popular? Because they are consistent on their output, we know when and what to expect, this is what our goal will be as well. To be something worth reading and anticipating. The theme of the blog will be about Success and we will have a subject for each day of the week as follows.

(4) “LIVE” PROJECTS IN THE OFFICE

We understand that attention spans of most people are short, including mine, so we must do our best to make sure that our efforts are well invested so that we can keep our focus and motivation up. We are not the kind of people who will build a house by laying brick by brick for months, we are the kind of people who will invest months to build a machine that can build houses in days. It might take some time before the first house is built but it is worth so much more because it can build many more houses in record time.

The concept is simple, we will have a place to keep score of projects that are successful or failed. We will carry out projects as soon as we think that it is feasible and worthwhile to do so, sometimes things that we might think are successful might be a failure in disguse and vice versa, thing that we might think are going to fail might turn out to be major success.

As history tells us, many times, the projects which are deemed to be impossible and which no one tries, those are the ones which turned out to be the major successes in history. Did anyone thought Google, FedEx, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook, Twitter, Creative, Stephen Hawking, Steven Spielberg’s ET, Harry Potter, Sylvester Stallone and the likes, will be successful BEFORE they succeeded? Not many.

How about car and airline companies, Enron, Lehman Brothers…things that we thought are very successful but failed? We know that many are trying to cover up their failures when people think they are successful, but we also know that many are detemined to try and attain greatness when no one, save a few, who believed in them. There is a hint, however, that success is nearing, it is when more and more people start to believe in what you are doing and who will lend you their support and motivate you back up on your feet again when times seem dark and self-doubt comes in mind. Every individual needs some support because we can’t be the best at everything and am upbeat all the time.

This is why we have created THE OFFICE, a place where we work together and create momentum to get things going, to try our hand at several projects, to fail at some and to achieve success at some. There will be mainly three kind of projects we will be engaging constant at:

1. Projects that are meant to create something meaningful to be given out and shared for free.
2. Projects that are meant to help people, including our members and myself as well.
3. Projects that are meant to create products to Make Money for you and me.

(5) BUSINESS FORUMS

It takes time to create an outstanding forum but everything has a start to it. One of our long term goals is to create a forum where people will come to:

1. Participate in Discussions
2. Ask / Answer Questions
3. Attract Experts to Join In
4. Buy / Sell Products
5. Submit reviews for Good / Lousy Products
6. As a Learning Environment / Classroom for Real Life Situations and Lessons
7. To Make Connections with Great People Around The World to Build Great Teams

As apparent, a Forum is a multiple-way discussion and functions differently from a Blog where one person writes about a specific topic and others comment about it. We do not intend to use Twitter or Yahoo Answers as a place to store our conversations, we do that in Forums where everyone can refer to answers to a question. I intentionally call it a Business Forum instead of just a Forum so that whenever we enter the Forum, we remind ourselves that our reputation matters here and giving well thought answers will be good.

When it comes to disputes, please try not to pick on someone’s answer and say that it’s wrong straight, do try to give a more correct answer and we hope you invest a little time to explain why it is right as well. Sometimes I myself am quick to criticize as well so it will be good to remind each other sometimes to keep us on the right track. *Smiles* Yes, we like cute Monkeys and we can be professional as well *Winks*.
